Hole-by-Hole

Hole 1

433 M

406 M

383 M

Hole 1 • Mobola Plum

Par 4 • Stroke 1

One of the toughest starting holes in golf! This Par 4 requires an accurate tee shot to the sloping fairway that doglegs to the right. Due to the length, the average golfer will still have a hybrid or long iron to a raised, long, narrow green protected by a bunker on the right. A par here, and you are off to a good start.

Hole 2

509 M

455 M

409 M

Hole 2 • Matumi

Par 5 • Stroke 7

This scenic, narrow Par 5 with its elevated tee and out-of-bounds on the left needs a straight drive and is very reachable in two. Your second is a semi-blind shot which must favour the right-hand side of the fairway that slopes left towards a water hazard that guards the left-hand side of a two-tiered green. The bunker on the right of the green might force you to play safe and lay up short past the paperbark tree on the fairway. Risk and reward, but accuracy is paramount.

Hole 3

210 M

186 M

163 M

Hole 3 • Silver Cluster Leaf

Par 3 • Stroke 5

The first of the Par 3's, but this one needs respect. From the back tee, this Par 3 is a challenge to all players. A well located greenside bunker guards the left-hand side, with a run-off area to the right of the green. The middle of the green is all one should be aiming for with two good putts. Par is a good score.

Hole 4

445 M

425 M

380 M

Hole 4 • Red Milkwood

Par 5 • Stroke 17

Here is a chance to get one back. This short Par 5 is easily reachable in two. It does have a small river that runs across the fairway 290 meters from the tee. Long hitters only need a hybrid or long iron off the tee for position on top of the plateau. Keep your tee shot on the left-hand side of the fairway, as the ball kicks towards the right off the slope. This sets you up for a straight approach to a flat green situated between the hills. A good second shot should secure you an easy birdie.

Hole 5

141 M

131 M

99 M

Hole 5 • Natal Mahogany

Par 3 • Stroke 13

A short Par 3 where the player hits over the donga to a long green protected by bunkers on the right. Club selection is vitally important as it can vary by as much as three clubs depending on the pin location. Your putting will be tested with the green sloping to the right, but be warned, looks can be deceiving.

Hole 6

380 M

353 M

338 M

Hole 6 • Broad Leaved Coral

Par 4 • Stroke 3

On this difficult dogleg left, uphill Par 4, a good drive up the right-hand side will set you up to approach the green. Avoid the left-hand side of this hole, as it is well protected by trees. The slightly raised green has many spots where the hole can be protected and the centre of the green is not a bad spot to be. One can be happy with a par here.

Hole 7

372 M

342 M

337 M

Hole 7 • Waterberry

Par 4 • Stroke 11

As you turn around, this downhill Par 4 plays short with a good tee shot. A bunker guards the left side of the green, and another strategically placed one guards the right front. For the longer hitters, this hole is a drive and a short pitch with a birdie on the cards.

Hole 8

342 M

311 M

298 M

Hole 8 • Marula

Par 4 • Stroke 9

Up the hill again, and this Par 4 is relatively straight and simple. It requires an accurate tee shot, and provided you check the pin position on this two-tiered green, a good putt could get you back-to-back birdies.

Hole 9

316 M

304 M

285 M

Hole 9 • Knob Thorn

Par 4 • Stroke 15

The closing hole of the outward nine, and not very long to go. A short Par 4 to finish the nine, and the average player will be hitting a short pitch again to a two-tiered green. A large Natal Mahogany tree guards the front of the green, and look out for the small pond that guards the right-hand side of the green. A fun hole to finish an enjoyable nine holes.

Hole 10

355 M

338 M

330 M

Hole 10 • Sweet Thorn

Par 4 • Stroke 10

A gentle Par 4 to start the back nine, with a large marula tree on the right-hand side of the fairway that can catch a stray drive. The donga is again in play all the way down the left hand-side, and swallows any hooked drives. A raised green from back to front receives a good mid to short approach. A pleasant starting hole after the halfway stop.

Hole 11

297 M

269 M

269 M

Hole 11 • Brown Ivory

Par 4 • Stroke 16

This Par 4 tees off over a dam. For the longer hitters, it is possible to find the front of the putting surface with your drive. Keep away from the lateral hazard on the left, and the two large bunkers — one situated on the right-hand side of the fairway, and the other to the front-left of the green. A long iron off the tee sets up a short pitch to a large green. Risk and reward.

Hole 12

377 M

364 M

300 M

Hole 12 • Bush Willow

Par 4 • Stroke 2

With a fairway that slopes right to left, this long Par 4 requires a precise tee shot up the right-hand side, with a small fade to hold the fairway. Your second with a long iron, is uphill to a large green, and don't forget to check the pin position again. Any shot that is pulled left will disappear into the donga that runs along the entire hole. A bunker guards the right of the green. Par here is a bonus.

Hole 13

172 M

165 M

112 M

Hole 13 • White Stinkwood

Par 3 • Stroke 12

A slightly uphill Par 3 with a very undulating green. A good long to mid iron will do the job, but again, the pin position must be observed, or a three-putt will spoil your card.

Hole 14

498 M

479 M

457 M

Hole 14 • False Thorn

Par 5 • Stroke 14

Standing on an elevated tee, this Par 5 looks inviting. An accurate drive will set up a birdie opportunity, but the donga is back — this time on the right. With many trees on the left, your drive must be straight. Bunkers on either side of a long, narrow green will catch an errant shot, and don't go over the back. Play safe and lay-up past the marula trees in the fairway, and a par is a certainty.

Hole 15

332 M

324 M

290 M

Hole 15 • Wild Teak

Par 4 • Stroke 8

Trees line both sides of this short Par 4 that curves slightly to the right. A water hazard protects the right-front of the green and will catch any ball that is short. A drive favouring the left-hand side of the fairway will set you up with an easier approach to the pin. When the pin is at the front of this two-tiered green, it is difficult to get your ball close. Birdie is on the cards, but beware of the water that can spoil your round.

Hole 16

398 M

380 M

311 M

Hole 16 • Sacred Coral

Par 4 • Stroke 6

This Par 4 requires a good drive down the right-hand side of the fairway, as a large Marula tree blocks your approach from the left. Trees down the right, and the donga down the left can do serious damage to your card. Bunkers on both the left and right of the green will test your accuracy, and be sure not to go over the back. Par is a good score.

Hole 17

121 M

121 M

110 M

Hole 17 • Knobbly Fig

Par 3 • Stroke 18

This beautiful, scenic, short Par 3 is a gem. Don't be fooled by the tempting pin position on the left side of this narrow green that is set tight against the donga on the left. Bunkers at the front and to the right of the green will catch any mishit or stray shots. Rather hit your ball to the centre of the green, take your par and turn for home.

Hole 18

384 M

363 M

324 M

Hole 18 • Sycamore Fig

Par 4 • Stroke 4

This uphill Par 4 makes for a difficult finish to a wonderful day. A large sycamore fig tree (over two hundred years old) will catch any drive pulled or hooked slightly left. Trees up the right are just as menacing. Your second shot to a green with a water hazard on the left and behind the green, demands to be a straight shot. A par will make the drinks at the bar a bit colder, while overlooking this beautiful course.
